Tour Itinerary

  • Day 1: Guwahati - Shillong

    • Post arrival at Guwahati airport, drive to Shillong , capital of Meghalaya.
    • Enroute Shillong, halt at the scenic Umiam Lake, also locally known as Barapani.
    • Reach Shillong and check-in at hotel.
    • Overnight stay in Shillong.

  • Day 2: Shillong to Cherrapunjee via Mawlynnong

    • Post breakfast drive to Cherrapunji.
    •  Enroute is a detour towards Mawlynnong, the cleanest village in Asia. Stroll through the narrow paths of the village, which overlooks Bangladesh.
    • One can also take a short walk to the neighbouring village of Riwai where there is a small living root bridge.
    • Post lunch, drive to Cherrapunji.
    • Overnight  stay in Cherrapunji.

  • Day 3: Cherrapunjee sightseeing

    • Visit the Seven Sisters Falls, Dainthlen Falls and Nokhalikai Falls.
    •  Also walk through the Stalagmites of the intriguing Mawsmai caves.
    • Overnight stay in Cherrapunjee.

    Take the Root Bridge Trek:

    • After breakfast, travel by car to the tiny village of Tyrna in Cherrapunjee, which serves as the base camp of the trek to the double root bridge.
    • The trek is on a well defined path which has close to 3000 steps down to the bridges. These bridges are a bio-engineering marvel and are a perfect example of how the people of the Khasi hills live in harmony with nature.
    • The streams form natural emerald green ponds, which are perfect for a dip or swim.
    • Later, trek back up the same path to Tryna.
    • Spend the evening at leisure. Overnight stay in Cherrapunjee.

  • Day 4: Cherrapunjee to Shillong via Mawphlang

    • Drive back to Shillong and explore the Sacred Grove forest of Mawphlang.
    • The Sacred Grove forest is protected by the villagers and has many myths associated with Khasi culture.
    • Visit Shillong Peak, which offers great views of the city below.
    • Spend the evening at leisure.
    • Overnight stay in a hotel in Shillong.

  • Day 5: Shillong to Kaziranga

    • Leave early for the UNESCO World Heritage site of Kaziranga National Park, home of the world renowned one-horned rhino and the Royal Bengal tiger.
    • Check-in at a jungle lodge and spend the rest of the day at leisure.
    • Overnight in Kaziranga.

  • Day 6: Kaziranga

    • The Park is divided into three ranges- Western (Bagori), Eastern (Agaratoli) and Central (Kohora).
    • Early in the morning, jeep safari in the Central range, which is a good opportunity to see the animals from close.
    • In the afternoon, a jeep safari in the Eastern range, which takes you deeper into the jungle.
    • Evening at leisure.
    • Overnight in Kaziranga.

  • Day 7: Kaziranga to Majuli

    • After a leisurely breakfast, drive to Nimati Ghat to catch the ferry to Majuli island.
    • Majuli is one of the biggest inhabited river island in the world and is known for the Assamese  Neo-Vaishnavite movement.
    • After crossing the mighty Brahmaputra, check-in to a  traditional bamboo cottage and spend the rest of the day at leisure.
    • Try some ethnic tribal cuisine and also their local beer known as Apong.

  • Day 8: Majuli sightseeing

    • After breakfast, head out to explore the island.
    • Visit the famous monasteries known as Satras to understand Vaishnavite culture. Satras are religious institutions where monks learn arts forms, drama, music and Hindu philosophy. Interact with the monks to learn their way of life.
    • Visit the age-old mask makers of Samuguri Satra. Elaborate masks are made from bamboo and clay and depict characters from various Hindu mythological epics.
    • Take a walk through one of the villages or go bicycling to take in the laid back lifestyle of the people who call this island home.
    • Spend the evening at leisure.
    • Bonfires can be arranged in winters.
    • Overnight in Majuli

  • Day 9: Majuli to Jorhat or Guwahati

    • After breakfast, you can either drive to Jorhat (2.5 hours) or back to Guwahati (7-8 hours), both of which have airports. If you are staying in Jorhat, we can organise a visit to a tea plantation and offer tea tasting as well.
    • Overnight stay at a hotel.

  • Day 10: Departure Day

    • Drop at Jorhat or Guwahati airport.
    • End of service.
