The Assam Wildlife Tour
Wildlife lovers can feast their senses on this amazing tour that gets them close encounters with the rich flora and fauna of Assam. What makes it unique is the variety of wildlife that one can spot and photograph on this picturesque tour.
Tour Itinerary
Day 1: Guwahati to Manas National Park
- Upon arrival at Guwahati airport, drive (about 4 hours) to Manas National Park, a UNESCO world heritage site.
- Check in at a jungle lodge and spend the evening at leisure.
Day 2: Manas
- Go for an early morning jeep safari to view the native species of wildlife.
- The park is located at the foothills of the eastern Himalayas and shares its northern border with the Kingdom of Bhutan.
- Later, take an afternoon jeep safari to a different part of the national park and drive up to the Bhutan border.
- Return to the lodge and take a walk to one of the nearby villages.
- Spend the evening at leisure. Overnight in Manas.
Day 3: Manas to Nameri
- After breakfast, drive to Nameri National Park (7 hours approximately).
- The park is home to a wide range of flora and fauna and shares its borders with the state of Arunachal Pradesh.
- Check in to an Eco Lodge and spend the evening at leisure.
Day 4: Nameri
- Early morning, take a country boat ride across the Jia Bhoroli river and explore the jungle by foot. Spot Hornbills, Kingfishers, the rare White Winged Wood Duck and many more species.
- Return to the lodge and spend time exploring the nearby villages.
- In the afternoon, enjoy river rafting on the Jia Bhoroli river and spend the evening at leisure.
- Overnight stay in Nameri.
Day 5: Nameri to Kaziranga
- Post a relaxed breakfast at the camp, drive ( approximately 2-3 hours) to Kaziranga National Park.
- The park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is spread across the floodplains of the Brahmaputra river. Its forests, wetlands and grasslands are home to tigers, elephants and the world’s largest population of Indian one-horned rhinoceroses.
- Spend the evening at leisure.
- Overnight in Kaziranga.
Day 6: Kaziranga
- The park has three ranges, Bagori, Kohora and Agoratoli. In the morning, take a jeep safari to explore one of the three ranges and in the evening go for another jeep safari through one of the other ranges.
- Spend the evening at leisure.
- Overnight in a lodge in Kaziranga.
Day 7: Kaziranga to Gibbon Wildlife Sanctuary to Kaziranga
- After a leisurely breakfast, drive (about 3 hours) to the Hollongapar Gibbon wildlife sanctuary near Jorhat.
- Enjoy a guided walk through the jungle to see the various species of primates such as Hoolock gibbons, macaques and Capped langurs.
- Return to Kaziranga in the evening.
- Overnight in Kaziranga.
Day 8: Kaziranga to Guwahati
- After breakfast, drive back to Guwahati.
- If time permits, take a sunset river cruise on the mighty Brahmaputra river.
- In the evening visit the markets for last minute shopping.
- Evening at leisure.
- Overnight at a hotel in Guwahati.
Day 9: Departure
- Drop at the airport or railway station for your onward journey. End of Tour
